Pelee Island: Stone & Sky Residency
This was soooooooooo amazing!! I loved every second of this artist residency on Pelee Island in Essex County, Ontario. Not to...
For those of you who know me well or who have read my blog post Pelee Island: Stone & Sky Residency, you already know how much of an impact my time on Pelee Island in August 2021 had on me. Between that and my participation in Dance Ontario's Windows of Time Project with Andrea Nann and Dreamwalker Dance in September 2021, my artistic life and personal life have become ever more entwined and ever more busy it seems!! This is all very exciting for me and I hope it is for you too...in some small or large way. While there are many offerings and projects that I am currently engaged in or working on...I want to take a little time to give you some context, some images and some insight on the creative process for my first solo for myself in about a hundred years.......she walks both worlds.
With all of this beautiful source material to inspire me....I began to also look for music to work with for this project. Currently, I am composing what I would call a visual and sound score for the the live performance of she walks both worlds. Very soon...some time this spring...I will begin to work with this score to began creating interactive choreography.
Stay tuned for more about this new work in process, throughout Spring and Summer 2022.

Now this has been a long time coming for sure!! I was invited by Patricia Fell, Artistic Director of Windsor Feminist Theatre to participate in an artistic residency for the company's Stone and Sky Music and Art Series way back in early 2020. Needless to say, it has taken until September 2021 to get onto Pelee Island to collaborate with photographer Douglas MacLellan for this much anticipated project. We have no idea what we are going to come up with together, but we will be sure to let you in on it!
This will be a wonderful new adventure as this will be my first time staying on Pelee Island and from what I understand, the experience is far from ordinary!
Stay tuned for more about gearing up for this residency, the locations that will be explored through movement and photography and when you can see what we create in September 2021.
So excited to be spending three weeks in the beautiful city of Kelowna. Yes, Kelowna. Right there smack dab in the middle of the beautiful Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada and a long ways away from the Windsor-Detroit border where I Iive. After such a long time of not being able to travel, I cannot wait to get out of dodge and hit the road, the trails, the beaches and more!
This will be a wonderful new adventure as I have never ever been to the Okanagan and I am so looking forward to sharing my experiences with you.
