For those of you who know me well or who have read my blog post Pelee Island: Stone & Sky Residency, you already know how much of an impact my time on Pelee Island in August 2021 had on me. Between that and my participation in Dance Ontario's Windows of Time Project with Andrea Nann and Dreamwalker Dance in September 2021, my artistic life and personal life have become ever more entwined and ever more busy it seems!! This is all very exciting for me and I hope it is for you too...in some small or large way. While there are many offerings and projects that I am currently engaged in or working on...I want to take a little time to give you some context, some images and some insight on the creative process for my first solo for myself in about a hundred years.......she walks both worlds.
This work in process started on Pelee Island through the collaborative photos that Doug MacLellan and I created together during our time on the island for the Stone & Sky Residency. While it was entirely unknown what we would come up with together, I did have a seed of intention and hope for she walks both worlds. As it turns out, there are several photographs that Doug and I collaborated on together that inspired me to move forward with this interdisciplinary solo performance work. Throughout the Fall of 2021 and the Winter of 2022, I spent a lot of time mulling over literally hundreds of photographs to select those that I wanted to work with for this project. And thankfully, Doug helped me with this process. I also began to work with some of the video he took of me and the shoreline.

With all of this beautiful source material to inspire me....I began to also look for music to work with for this project. Currently, I am composing what I would call a visual and sound score for the the live performance of she walks both worlds. Very soon...some time this spring...I will begin to work with this score to began creating interactive choreography.
